The Newfound Woodworks' fastest kayak, 17' The Spirit, is a dream to paddle. If you are looking for a touring kayak that will get you from point A to point B and everywhere in between in the shortest amount of time, look no further! The Spirit's 22" beam and fine entry results in a very responsive boat, but it should be noted that this design still has a high degree of stability and will not punish the paddler who makes the slightest mistake. Even so, this design is best suited for the intermediate to advanced paddler. This particular kayak, built at our shop in NH, has an 'ocean cockpit', our #1 size cockpit opening, 16" wide x 21" long ID.

17' 4 ", 24" beam, 48 lbs.

The Trekker is a fairly high volume, comfortable sea kayak. This is our big guy's kayak. Its hard chined Greenland-type hull tracks very strongly in windy conditions and offers great stability at rest and while leaning. With its larger volume the Trekker lends itself to larger paddlers who may also want to carry gear on camping expeditions. It has a bit more V shape in the bottom than a typical American kayak, which decreases its sensitivity in the wind and waves. It also has enough storage space for day tripping and overnight camping.

This kayak will work nicely for 200-265 lb paddlers on trips with gear or for 270-295 lb paddlers for day trips. Overall weight of this kayak is 48 lbs.

The Navigator is a fairly high volume, comfortable sea kayak. Its hard chined Greenland-type hull tracks very strongly in windy conditions and offers great stability at rest and while leaning. With its larger volume the Navigator lends itself to larger paddlers who may also want to carry gear on camping expeditions. This kayak will work nicely for 175-240 lb paddlers on trips with gear or for 250-290 lb paddlers for day trips. Overall weight of this kayak is 45 lbs.

15' 10" length, 22" beam, 40 lbs

The Explorer is a smooth and sleek touring kayak. It is a slightly shorter, narrower version of the Navigator. The Explorer performs well in windy conditions, moving easily through the waves and chop. It offers great stability at rest and while leaning and tracks well in all types of weather. Symmetrical in design and predictable in performance, it also has enough storage space for picnicking and day tripping.

This kayak will work nicely for 130-165 lb paddlers on trips with gear or for 155-190 lb paddlers for day trips. Overall weight of this kayak is 40 lbs.
