Guillemot
A Solo Kayak for Day Trips and Overnight Camping

Nick Shade designed this kayak for an article he wrote for the October 1995 issue of Sea Kayaker magazine. It is based on the Guillemot Coastal. He adapted the harder chine of his Guillemot Expedition Single to the shorter length of the Coastal to make a nice performing kayak. The big difference between this design and the Coastal is less hollow in the bow and stern of the Guillemot. This hollow improves performance in waves. The hollow is somewhat hard to produce. The easier design to built is worth a small loss in performance. The Guillemot is not as easily moved through the water, but still provides excellent overall performance in a somewhat easier to build boat.

Length 17' | Beam 21" | Weight 42 lbs.
