Hans Friedel

Hans started kayaking when he was 12 years old at Lake Malaren, one of Sweden's largest lakes, the same lake on which the old Viking city of Birka lays. He later sailed different boats such as the Moth, Intentional Fireball, and IC-Sailcanoe. His first keelboat was a 15sqm Skerry Cruiser.

Over the past 10 years, Hans has designed and built his own kayaks and canoes and this year became a member of the Swedish Yacht Designer Association.

When Hans is not designing or paddling boats, he works as a Mechanical Designer at a steel plant and designs both fiberglass and cedar strip boats for companies similar to Newfound Woodworks in Sweden. He is currently working on more kayak designs and a skiff to be added to Newfound Woodworks' line-up.

In September, Hans came to the Newfound Rendezvous and was able to paddle many different canoe and kayak designs.
